Condition Survey

A ship condition survey is a comprehensive inspection of a vessel’s structural integrity, machinery, equipment, and systems. It is conducted to assess the overall condition and seaworthiness of the vessel, identify any existing or potential defects or deficiencies, and provide recommendations for maintenance or repair.

The ship condition survey is usually carried out by a qualified marine surveyor or a team of surveyors and involves a detailed examination of the vessel’s hull, superstructure, cargo handling equipment, navigation equipment, propulsion system, and other machinery and systems. The survey may include non-destructive testing, visual inspections, and measurements, as well as review of the vessel’s documentation and records.

The ship condition survey is often required for various purposes such as pre-purchase inspections, insurance assessments, chartering agreements, and regulatory compliance. The survey report provides valuable information for shipowners, operators, and other stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding the vessel’s operation, maintenance, and repair.
